Fran Jenkins

President

Fran has been a proud North Island resident for over 40 years and hopes to be considered a “local” soon! She is married to a bush pilot, and together they raised two sons they are very proud of. Sunset School was like a second home to Fran for 25 years, and she has recently retired…again! Along the way, she has been involved in the entertainment world in many ways: hosting the underwater show at the Under Sea Gardens in Victoria, writing and producing advertising for CFNI radio, writing, co-producing, and hosting the TV program North Island Now, conducting YouTube interviews with local politicians and physicians, and entertaining a classroom of 22 students for 10 months each year! She is excited and proud to be a new member of the Gate House Theatre community.

Kris Jorgenson

Vice President

Kris began doing sound engineering at church when he was 13, which was 30 years ago now. From the ages of 14 to 19, He worked in sound engineering at a Bible Camp every summer. At 15 he picked up his first bass guitar and fell in love with playing it. He also managed all the sound and lighting for the plays that the church put on during his teens age years. 

Kris has a passion for the outdoors, enjoying activities like camping, fishing, hunting, off-roading and a big ole bonfires. With a strong background & passion for technology & live sound engineering, Kris expertly blends his passion for music and his technical expertise to enhance the auditory experience for performers and audiences alike.

Sequoia Coe - Drama Coordinator

Board Member

Sequoia Coe (she/her) is a lifelong theatre lover. When the Gate House Theatre first started back in 2011, she instantly became involved as an actor. Over the years of being an actor and director of plays at Gate House, she found herself on the board. Sequoia is now the coordinator for both after-school drama programs, and our newly established as of January 2025 adult drama program. She is the instructor of the Gate House's Senior Drama program (grade 8-12), as well as the adult program. In addition to that, she is also the chair of the drama committee, and director of many of our plays. She is who you contact if you are interested in being involved in any of the plays put on by Gate House, on or off stage.
She is thrilled to help nurture the arts on the North Island, and hopes everyone is able to get to enjoy live theatre either as a participant or a spectator at least once.

Chris Kelly

Gate House Theater Manager

Chris just joined the Gatehouse Theatre team in 2024 coming from a background in music and event management. He is a new resident to the North Island and is excited to connect with the community and enjoy the beautiful outdoors that the North Island has to offer.

Sandra Wilson/Digital Markateer

Board Member

Sandra is a new board member as of 2023. She started doing website updates and then social media marketing for the Gate House Theatre. She has since taken over the Bookkeeping role as Cheryl has stepped down. She is a long-time resident of the North Island and does Digital Marketing freelance work called "Digital Markateer." She loves doing website design and many different aspects of Digital Marketing. The Gate House Theatre has inspired her to get involved with local activities that gets the community out and entertained.

Laurie Hatton

Board Member

Laurie has been involved in the arts and music scene since he was a young lad, sitting in on the production side of large-scale music events, CBC live broadcasts in the late ’60s and early ’70s, and many Maritime kitchen parties.

A singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and sound engineer, Laurie supports the local arts community through both his music and financially through his local HVAC company, helping local events, festivals, and emerging musicians. He is proud to be part of a fantastic group representing a wonderful theatre and a staple of the North Island community.

Bill McQuarrie

Board Member

Bill’s interest in live theatre began in the ‘80s when he accepted a board position with North Vancouver’s Presentation House Theatre. While there, Bill worked with the other directors to grow the theatre’s reach while continuing to develop his own private-sector business interests in the travel sector, media, and technology.Later, at the request of the BC Innovation Council, Bill Chaired the BC Regional Science & Technology Network where he taught, mentored, and coached high tech entrepreneurs in the fields of marketing and communications.

With over 50 years of experience in both traditional and digital media, Bill is now recognized for his innovative communications skills and approach to digital content creation and management. He is also an award-winning photo/journalist and continues volunteering to help non-profits develop engaging communication strategies.  With his joining the Gate House Board, brings him full circle and back into the field of arts and entertainment.
